Although there are Anasazi petroglyphs, pottery and Pueblos in the area, this site could be extremely important for another reason, the network of chambers dug into the (relatively soft) bedrock. They are of completely different style and erosion scale compared to the relatively recent Anasazi ruins. Are they are part of network of underground cities that is best visible in West Asia? Unfortunately Tsankawi Cave Dwellings appears to be still largely unexplored although the complex is reported to be very large. Does it continue underground? How long would such an erosion take? And so many other pending questions... |
