Callanish stone circle, United Kingdom, Western Europe

A megalithic stone circle and stone formation on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland. Tall stones. They would have been perhaps too hard to lift by rope/rollers, as the official story says these were built without cranes. May have been brought from the stone quarries of Wales in massive ships that are now gone. Local legends say Merlin and giants built the stone circles in the British Isles. Near the stones is a wall built of small and medium piled stones.

Variation Name(s): Calanais stone circle, Chalanais stone circle
