Frisland, United Kingdom, Western Europe

yet another proof that the face of the earth is changing much faster than most people belive

Frisland is an island which appeared in detail on maps in the 1500-1600s. There must have been some type of great flood or natural disaster in the 1700s that destroyed it at which time it no longer appeared on any map. It now lies completely submerged underwater at depths between a few hundred feet to over one thousand feet deep. I find the timing of this disappearance very interesting as it correlates with a time period that Sylvie often speaks of. According to the almighty source Wikipedia, Frisland was a phantom island born out of confusion. Well there you have it... case settled:-)
